The Toolbox Murders

Viszonylag eredeti kis horrorfilm. Úgy kezdődik, mint egy agyatlan gyilkos ámokfutás, amelyben gyönyörű lányokat gyilkolnak mesteri eszközökkel (fúrógép, csavarhúzó, szögbelövő), és úgy folytatódik, mint egy lélektanilag feszült óda a keresztény etika versus szex kérdéseiről. De itt is állandóan folyik a vér, és az undor érzése percről percre mélyül. Kissé perverz "video-nastie", hasonló célpontot eltalálva, mint amilyet például az öncélúbb I Spit on Your Grave trash film is sikertelenül próbált eltalálni. (2005.04.24)

Drilling, hammering, screwing, moistening, and nailing to romantic music… In the first twenty minutes, there’s a fair bit of blood, but then it starts to deviate from genre norms. The unconventional aspect is the amateur-led investigation, the repetition of delusions, and the pretense of psychological drama through a lot of rambling. One might even start to think that the killer in the mask went off to ski in Aspen. I believe the driving force behind the handyman uncle wasn’t a desire to combat sin, but his own toolkit in his underwear. (2023.05.05)

The Toolbox Murders is a well-made and slightly overly-complicated slasher movie with a killer in a ski mask, who rampages around an apartment complex with the help of a variety of tools (definitely more fun than The Driller Killer). Although every now and then the pace drags a bit, it’s definitely one of the more accomplished horror movies on the "video nasties" list. (2020.02.22)
