2018. március 4-én segélyhívás érkezett Salisbury városának főteréről, ahol egy padon öntudatlan állapotban találtak egy idős férfit és egy fiatal nőt. Szergej Szkripál, aki lányával együtt mérgezés áldozata lett, korábban az orosz katonai hírszerzés munkatársa volt, majd kettős ügynökként működött az orosz és a brit hírszerzés szolgálatában. Az angol helyi hatóságok eleinte tanácstalanok, milyen fenyegetéssel állnak szemben, amikor azonban kiderül, hogy a két embert a tömegpusztító fegyverként is alkalmazható Novicsok idegméreggel próbálták meggyilkolni, a városban rendkívüli biztonsági intézkedésekre kerül sor. A megtörtént esetet dokumentarista módon követő tévéfilmsorozat az eseményekben érintett több tucat szereplő közül négy figurát hoz különösen közel a nézőhöz: a roppant felelősséget erején felül felvállaló közegészségügyi vezetőt, Tracy Daszkiewiczet, a nyomozást elkezdő és maga is fertőzötté váló rendőrnyomozót, Nick Bailey-t és egy jobb életre vágyó, zűrös párost, akik véletlenül rátalálnak a kölnisüvegbe töltött méregre. A subtle cinematic effort from the UK that delves into one of the most well-known media scandals of recent years, the assassination attempt on former Russian spy Skripal (and his daughter). A few details made their way to our region, but I wanted to broaden my understanding of this issue. The series is approached almost in a documentary style by its creators. Fortunately, it also focuses on the main actors in this tragic event. I didn’t previously know that the Salisbury incident also claimed the life of an innocent woman (which is addressed in the final episode, bringing in emotions, believe me). The subplot with Detective Nick was also engaging. While the series doesn’t offer any particularly intense action scenes, the threat of Novichok itself serves as a thriller element. This invisible enemy provoked uncomfortable feelings in me throughout the watch. So the series succeeded in that regard. Another British notch on the belt. More minis-series like this, please. For me, it’s 8/10.

A very believable reconstruction of the relatively recent events surrounding the poisoning with the nerve agent Novichok, which occurred in Wiltshire, England. It focuses on the feelings of the family members of the victims of the attack as well as the people who contributed greatly to the safety of the general public. In connection with the current global pandemic, I can imagine much better what the residents of the affected area were going through, and I feel quite uneasy about it all. (70%)
