Jak zostać gwiazdą

I originally watched this film just because I was in the mood for something Polish, and honestly, the beginning had me worried—it felt like it was going to be a disaster. But after the first 15 minutes, it really picks up, and I found myself pleasantly surprised. Sure, everything about the drama feels pretty standard, right down to the happy ending, but it was actually quite enjoyable. Even though the music is pretty average, the character development is spot-on. Julia Kamińska is charming (as are most Polish actresses, it seems), and Tomasz Karolak plays a grumpy Polish music legend perfectly, creating a great contrast. Overall, this turned out to be a nice surprise and probably the best film I've seen about music reality shows. America could definitely take some notes! (2021.01.07)
