Dr. Isaac Bruno csillagász egy személyes trauma hatására megszállottan kutatja az intelligens élet nyomát a kozmoszban. Amikor megszállottsága veszélybe sodorja pályafutását, Isaac mindent megtesz, hogy hozzáférhessen az exoplanéták kutatására szolgáló új orbitális teleszkóphoz. Bruno kutatási asszisztenst keres, az egyetlen jelentkező a festő Clara. There’s just one problem with this film – the fact that its style and plot premise are very reminiscent of four-year-older I Origins. Like, insanely close! It’s as if a different theme and different characters had been slipped into the same storyline template. Apart from that, Clara is basically a pleasant and easy-going introspective flick which appeals to the eye and is technically flawless. I guess it will quickly find an enthusiastic target audience. Clara could be compared to the civilian sci-fi films Another Earth and I Origins by Mike Cahill. In many aspects, these films are similar, except that Clara uses sci-fi elements only minimally and rather focuses on the emotional level, making it primarily a romantic drama that may push the boundaries at times. I enjoyed the first half more, in the second half it lost a bit of its momentum and the subsequent finale didn't have the desired effect on me. It may not be as good as Mike Cahill's aforementioned films, but it's definitely worth watching.
