In elementary school, I was under the impression that when I went to college, I would experience something similar to this film. Although Dziga Vertov is also my bread and butter, my reality after thirty years is somewhat different from the poetic version. In this film, however, Pecháček provided a picture of higher education in Czechoslovakia like no other and as such he receives the order of Fellini and Antonioni, whose conception of sex is indeed diametrically opposed. A quack or a medic, they all have the same diagnosis. Only the sexy Casanova, played by Jiří Štěpnička, remained de facto fictional. The peak of the series in terms of characters, dialogues, and ideas. Mireček, Vendulka, the sector development of the workspace, and Pavel Kříž in top form. If there is any Czech film that feels like real life, it's this one. (2006.04.19)

I don't know why, but the second film didn't captivate me as much as the first one did. Perhaps it's just that it's still about some unfortunate love story, and it's always the same thing. Klein excels in capturing characters superbly, and it's precisely the characters and their dialogues that are the best part of his films. The story itself is a bit provincial. I had fun, but not as much as I did with the first film in this pentalogy. (2014.04.17)
