The honeyed icon has moved west from New Orleans to smog-filled L.A., and without Glass, creative inventiveness, and remnants of mystery, it has definitely become a droning affair. The final half-hour was a hell prepared by the screenwriters, making the viewer feel like a fool, and neither the traditionally unstable Wade Williams nor the attempt to include nudity and a hint of eroticism helped. By the way, the Playmate and Baywatch actress in the lead seemed to be in a different kind of film, often appearing as if she was genuinely about to surrender and perform a service to Candyman. Fortunately, the planned fourth installment, which was to move the franchise to a girls' school in New England, never came to pass. Either because bees don’t like the cold, or the creators had a hunch about another direct-to-video sequel.
