angol The most expensive, highest-grossing and arguably best blockbuster from Korea this year. The big draw is the ensemble cast of big names, the breathtaking visuals, the brilliantly conceived 1933 atmosphere, the solid story, the interesting twists and most importantly the ACTION! I'm surprised that the action is R-rated, the blood is not spared in places and it is also dosed continuously and quite often, which keeps the viewer in suspense and reliably keeps the attention. There are only two fights, but for that the shootouts are shot superbly with a parade of nostalgic and varied firearms (the sniper scenes probably the best); it goes to show that Ji-hyeon Jeon has spent a lot of time preparing the shootouts. The luxury and enthusiasm can be felt in every shot of the film, and I'm happy to indulge in that. 80% ()

angol South Koreans show that for them, a genre mix, somewhat in the style of Gangs of New York, isn't a big problem, and they can handle it in their own way. With grace, with style, and most importantly, with a story that's not bad at all, one that is intriguingly developed, and the ending leads to a satisfactory conclusion. It might not be as grand as it seems, but it's definitely excellent. ()
