(TV2)

magyar Čermák és Bjelac jól játszik, de a mellékszereplőkkel való munka a cseh tévésorozatok olcsóságát idézi. Rendezőnek nincs érzéke a részletekhez. Másrészt jól kezeli az információk tálalásának ritmusát, és akit érdekel a gengszter szarházi története, az nem fog unatkozni. Cseh viszonylatban tisztességes instrumentális filmzene. ()

angol I'm quite glad that Czech production has found itself in these modern gangster films because it's obviously good at it. After The Story of a God-Father, this is another excellent notch with great performances, both in the lead and supporting roles. These are the kinds of movies that give you chills, and I still don't understand how people laughed at it in the movie theater. Are they really that naive? ()

angol A pretty decent production by Czech standards, but lacking a clearer script, a more vigorous directorial hand and drive. At times, the attempt to be as naturally cool as possible and throw one thing after another at the viewer is too obvious and doesn't work. And it also feels too much like a TV movie. But all things considered, it's a quite entertaining parody and Hynek Čermák downright enjoys the lead role. But only Vlastina Svátková reminds us of Hollywood with her charm. ()

angol What’s going on? I’ve never been too lenient with Czech detective work, but lately, I’ve actually started to enjoy it. Well, I guess times are changing. I’m already familiar with the collaboration between Jan Pachl and Hynek Čermák from The Fury series, and I know this duo produces quality work. Gangster Ka is no exception—it even reconstructs the story of a well-known Czech mobster. Again, I can’t say how much of the material is based on reality and how much is pure fiction, but the creators here claim that most things are accurate, so I’ll take their word for it. Čermák is a great choice, and the role of Káčko suited him perfectly—his expression was as chilling as it needed to be. Bjelac in the role of the Albanian bodyguard and Káčko’s most loyal friend was excellent, and he fit the role incredibly well. I liked his narration and description of Káčko’s persona (perhaps also because his Czech accent sounded cold and lethal). I think the atmosphere was portrayed perfectly here, and you can tell how Pachl strives to get as close to Western productions as possible (the monumental music helped with that too). The result is immediately noticeable. The first part was great—it introduced us to the character of Káčko, and I can’t wait for the sequel set in the Seychelles and South Africa. I give it 86%. ()

angol You have no idea how much I’d been looking forward to this movie. Probably even more than I’d been looking forward to the Story of a Godfather. You see, Mr. Pachl has a reputation of a debuting filmmaker with interesting experience from Czech Television and I must say for all those reasons I’d really been looking forward to this one more than any other movie made in our small country. And the result was exactly what I’d been hoping for. Technically excellent cinematography which confirms the professionalism, quality and grandiosity of the movie also through using the beautiful aerial shots of the countryside. The only problem with this movie is that people unfamiliar with any Czech scandals of this kind will keep getting lost in the story. Even I was having problems at the start to actually get into the story, but I managed to do that in about half an hour. And it was also thanks to the acting performances, which I have nothing bad to say about at all. I don’t think Hynek Čermák is capable of putting in a less-than-perfect acting performance. Predrag Bjelac is definitely another character you can’t fail to mention. His charisma was literally dripping from the screen. A tip of my hat to him. And they said that it was impossible to make a great European movie in Czechia. ()
