I’m not sure how Ken Loach does it, but he’s managed to grab my attention once again with a compelling premise, especially if you’re into European dramas. But then you sit down to watch, and it all feels so... ordinary. It’s civil, grounded, and while it doesn’t offend, it also doesn’t do much to leave a lasting impression. For 106 minutes, there’s just not enough happening.

In the film Jimmy's Hall, what's interesting is how you can also explore historical events, in this case through one dance hall that you might think isn't particularly important. And yet it was. But the plot failed to engage me, as would be appropriate for a film about events that are not so familiar to me.
