A quiet night on the outskirts of a small town in Maine is interrupted when Seth (Graham Skipper) witnesses his best friend Mark (Ethier) vanish in a brilliant flash of blue light. Two years later, Seth is still dealing with the fallout from the freaky incident, amid local suspicion that he is to blame for his friend's disappearance. When a string of grisly murders disrupts the community, Seth believes Mark has returned. Together with Mark's ex-girlfriend Jen (Vanessa Leigh), he races to find out if their friend is responsible - or if something beyond their understanding is unfolding before them. Almost Human is a horror film that delivers the splatter, drawing from many of the touchstones of cinematic shock for a refreshingly intense thriller bound to excite a new generation of moviegoers. angol I root for every cheap indie flick, and I was hoping Almost Human would be better, even if this style of straightforward slasher flicks from the 1980s is not precisely my cup of tea. What I missed the most was perhaps some mystery around the transformed main character, some ambiguity. But that’s not the case here at all. The script is about nothing. Slightly funny. 5/10 ()

angol Almost Human isn't a film that should signify a complete revolution in cheaper productions, but it's certainly not a film that the creator underestimated either. It's evident that there was a genuine effort to achieve the desired effect in Almost Human, an attempt to approach a fairly classic story in a slightly different, more intense way, and to add some intriguing and gritty scenes to it. The result turned out very well in the end, and even though it might not succeed in movie theaters, avoiding this film would be a shame. ()
