Mexikó az amerikai polgárháború idején...A megbuktatott elnök támogatói egy titokzatos kincs nyomába erednek, amelynek segítségével megdönthetik a hatalomra jutott gonosztevő Emperon Maximilian uralmát. A kincs rejtekhelyét azonban csak Karja, az azték hercegnő tudja, akinek élete egy percig sincs biztonságban, s mindenre elszánt gonosztevők járnak a nyomában. Ám szerencséjére Dr. Sternau személyében igazi támogatóra talál. A hajsza lélegzetelállító helyszíneken folyik a kincsért és a hatalomért. (TV2)

A bit of a change of scenery, but not that significant because it was still essentially filmed in one place. Here, there aren't characters that one would know, even though they're played by actors who are known from other films. It's quite humorous in places and Ralf Wolter is just funny. Otherwise, the story is quite nondescript, and in the end, it feels incomplete to me.

The worst Karel May party ever (maybe possibly on the level of Winnetou and Old Firehand). All of the westerns with Surehand are still a class better than this piece of junk. Lex Barker was always what could spice up the May parties, but this was too much even for him. A terribly unsuccessful mess that tarnishes the name of the much more successful Pyramid of the Sun God, with which unfortunately it forms one inseparable whole.
