Verona két nagy hatalmú családja, a Capuletek és a Montague-k évek óta háborúskodnak egymással. A fiatal Rómeót (Douglas Booth) nem érdekli családja viszálya, mert újra szerelmes, most épp Rosáliába. A Capulet család álarcosbálján azonban Júlia (Hailee Steinfeld) szépsége szíven találja, és e pillanattól fogva sorsa megpecsételődik. A két viszálykodó család mit sem sejt arról, hogy gyermekeik szerelmesek egymásba és titokban összeházasodnak. Hamarosan azonban Júliát férjhez akarják adni Paris grófhoz, míg Rómeónak menekülnie kell a bajkeverő Tybald halála miatt. (RTL Klub)

To film a classic play just for the sake of filming it again in 2013 is quite sad. Occasionally, there's an actor who was interestingly chosen, but the direction is completely superficial and half-hearted. It's as if the creators said to themselves, "This is a classic, it will film itself." Hailee didn't appeal to me at all in this, and Romeo isn't an interesting character either. This movie doesn't give us anything extra. I'd rather see it in the theater than in this form, without any impact on the audience and without emotions.
