John Skillpa, a quiet bank clerk living in tiny Peacock, Nebraska, prefers to live an invisible life. Then, in a moment, everything changes. A train caboose runs off its tracks and crashes into John's backyard and destroys more than the weathered planks of his wood fence. When neighbors descend on the scene, they discover John's other personality, Emma, for the first time and mistakenly believe her to be John's wife. This launches John into the glare of the spotlight and eventually shatters the delicate balance of his sanity. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)

angol With such a nice premise and such a great cast, Lander could have tried to make something more ambitious. Cillian Murphy is very convincing as a madman, it’s a pity that the script forces him to do something uninteresting. Peacock is a small dose of depression and paranoia that can be rated negatively only with regards to the high expectations. ()

angol I only found out about the film recently and after watching the trailer I was full of excitement because it looked like a pretty decent thriller with a great cast. But that enthusiasm was not completely fulfilled when watching it. I don't have a single complaint about the cast because the choice was great. Genre-wise, it is a thriller, although not as "dark and heavy" as I originally thought. Cillian Murphy gave a superb performance here, and Ellen Page faithfully seconded him. Susan Sarandon, who only made a couple of appearances, didn't disappoint either. In many films I find that the beginning is drawn-out, but here I wish they had stretched it out a bit. The ending was conceived in a certain distinctive way and I may not have fully understood its meaning, but that is not a bad thing for me (at least I will have something to think about, and I like that). angol I was honestly "enticed" by the trailer and the cast, so expectations were high. It's a fact that Peacock has a pretty decent (albeit rather unpleasant) atmosphere in places – especially when portraying the psyche of the main character/"heroine". The acting is indeed very appealing, the subject matter is quite original, the script is on a decent level, the directing is good, but I just didn't get what I was expecting, plus the potential that Peacock has (had) remained untapped many times over... A little more mystery to give the film a mystery thriller flavor would have worked much better in my opinion... As it is, it's "just" a decent intimate psychological drama. 70% ()
