Considering the first film in the series, I've complained several times that the creators disregarded gore and instead let the camera shy away. Well, that certainly doesn't apply to the ninth installment, because the gore here is at times absolutely captivating, and the filmmakers weren't afraid to go for it. There are elements here that you haven't seen in the series before and that were definitely missing from it. Within the series, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday is indeed a unique film, both in a positive and a negative sense of the word.
