After his internet series #martyisdead, with which director Pavel Soukup achieved a sensational success in the form of an Emmy award, there comes a film sequel, #annaismissing. We follow in the footsteps of provocative influencer, Anna, whose social networks go silent one day without any explanation. Thousands of followers wonder what happened to Anna. Nina sets out on a search when she finds a photo of half-naked Anna on her dad's mobile. The detective thriller brings an insight into the lives of today's youth and, following the example of the documentary Caught in the Net, warns against the digital footprint we leave behind on the internet. At the same time, until the very end, it plays a clever game with an experienced viewer who must not be fooled by a false clue. (Finále Plzeň)

angol A popular 15-year-old influencer had disappeared and young Nina found her photo on her father's mobile phone. To find out where she got it and what happened to the girl, she decides to track her down. But she may not be ready for the truth. #annaismissing is a well-written and directed whodunit with a great cast, and while the pacing gets a little shaky in the middle, it easily manages to compete with the rest of the world with its timeliness and craftsmanship. A confident film from confident filmmakers. And a damn good one. ()

angol I’ve heard nothing but praise for the work of the young and talented director Pavel Soukup for a long time. The film boasts a great musical score and also features quite impressive camera work and editing for Czech standards. The acting performances were mostly good, though it’s true that some people overacted (Vlastina Svátková in the role of the mother). And what about the most important thing, the story? A few twists were predictable, but it’s true that the biggest twist at the end escaped me. So, thumbs up for that. It's somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I give it a 7/10. ()

angol It's good, very good, but it could have been even better if they hadn't tried to bludgeon me with one surprising twist after another and hadn't focused so much on the adults in the end, especially at the expense of Nina and Robin. Otherwise, thumbs up for a film full of superbly acted young people (I just have to give a shout out to Alexandra Vostrejžová) that feels believable and whose characters are written so interestingly that you can still think about it after it's over. angol A great detective thriller from Czechia of European cut that will not be a disgrace in the world, and for me the best thriller ever made in our country. The story focuses on a provocative influencer who goes silent out of the blue. A 15 year old girl accidentally finds her photo on her dad's phone and begins an investigative hunt for the truth that is not entertaining, but also manages to thrill and fuck with the viewer several times. The actors do a very good job by Czech standards, the film nicely points out the pitfalls of today's modern times around social networks and the music is excellent (there are few nice songs, but the droning element added to the atmosphere and tension incredibly). The film manages to keep the viewer at attention throughout , which is not always the case with foreign productions, let alone in our country. I liked that the whole film keeps the viewer guessing who is behind it all and when you think the cards have been revealed, another ace is brought out, and I have to say that the finale is more than surprising. Normally I would give it a strong four, but since this is a domestic film that is unrivalled in quality, I don't hesitate to give it a full score. It is really good, I still can't believe it. 85%. angol Strong! Leaving aside the Czech non-actors, who want to match the world trend on our small pond and who don't look so good in certain passages, this is a very, very, very good piece of filmmaking. And that's in all aspects. Visually flawless and of a high level, and in terms of the characters, the script and the whole plot, including the final "who did it", this is the top of Czech cinema, if not perhaps the very best I have had the opportunity to see. The film even excels in secondary aspects as well, such as the incorporated elements, details and period authenticity. The tension is in the air from the opening minutes and the comparisons with the foreign films Searching or Missing are quite appropriate, as the film is in a very similar detective-investigative vein of the young protagonist. I loved the unraveling of the story and the gradual dosage of bits and pieces, I enjoyed the not-so-often-seen detailed elements such as the electric car with the camera, the work with the supporting characters, the incorporation of trends of today and the "cool" language of the young generation, and the whole thing just feels so good that it's a wonder that this was really made in our country. A colourful, imaginative and, in the end, very dense and uncomfortable demonstration of how drastically one can pay for one's mistakes, even if they are small and at the core start as innocent, and how dangerous today's internet world and the media and justice system are.
