magyar A Wall Street farkasa című film hatása tovább tart. ()

angol To the doctor on my deathbed and to the pharmacy not even for vitamin C... A decent Netflix movie filmed at an unexpected Wolf of Wall Street pace about the rise of a start-up pharmaceutical company and how market greed kills. The acting trio of Emily Blunt, Chris Evans, Andy Garcia revels in every scene, but it's Blunt who takes her complicated motivations that elevates Pain Hustlers a notch higher. Captain America, on the other hand, is unexpectedly understated, though handles very well the asshole salesman role who knows that's just the way things works. A nice surprise, especially for routine artist David Yates, who needed redemption after the wizards. ()

angol I like these films, but it lacked more drive, a fiercer pace and better situational humour. Wall Street and Dumb Money are maybe a level or two up, but Pain Hustlers still has its bright moments. It terms of plot it follows a familiar template and goes sadly without surprises. Emily Blunt gets lucky with an interesting job and starts making some decent money, but a person can only on top for a while and classically things start to fall apart again and you kind of wait for it to end. There are a few deaf spots, unfortunately, but the insight into the corruption of the pharmaceutical industry was good. The trial turned out interesting and surprising to me and Emily Blunt stole it nicely for herself. 65%. ()

angol There have a lot of films with the theme of the pharmaceutical industry, it’s almost an avalanche of them, but I haven't seen any yet and this is one is my first. Well, it wasn't that bad. The plot is pretty predictable from the start and anyone who knows fentanyl knows how it all eventually plays out; there's no major action or suspense either and really the only interesting elements are Chris Evans and Emily Blunt, but they don't really stand out either in my opinion, and although they're fun to watch, I'd be lying if I said these were some of their "life" roles. In short, a simple, run-of-the-mill pharmaceutical industry drama based on a true story that pretty much pulls it off but doesn't pull it off significantly. And the hype around it was so high... Dopesick will probably be on a whole other level. ()

angol It's no secret that the pharmaceutical industry is one of the shadiest businesses out there. This film certainly doesn't help improve that perception — quite the opposite, and that's a good thing. It shows just how far some will go for profit. It's not just the pharmaceutical industry that concocts these schemes, but we all know that medications will always be in demand. So why not exploit that, right? This drama is pretty standard fare, but it's elevated by Emily Blunt's excellent performance and Catherine O'Hara, who we all remember as Kevin's mom. ()
